Photorealistic renderings are an important part of communicating your design vision, but producing them requires a significant investment of time. The modeling, refinements, and revisions involved can quickly consume hours that could be better spent on other aspects of your design work.

A 4Dbiz Virtual Design Assistant can take on the detailed work of creating photorealistic renderings for your interior design studio. Working from your drawings, selections, and design specifications, a Design Assistant can develop and refine photorealistic renderings that accurately reflect your vision while giving you more time to focus on your clients and the design decisions that require your expertise.

How does 4Dbiz support photorealistic renderings?

Our Virtual Design Assistants support photorealistic renderings throughout the design process, from developing the initial 3D model and incorporating your selections to refining materials, lighting, and details as your design evolves.

General Process Questions

How much direction do I need to provide when delegating photorealistic renderings to my Design Assistant?

The more information you provide about your design intent, selections, materials, finishes, and project details, the more accurately your Design Assistant can translate that direction into a photorealistic rendering.

The exact information you provide will depend on the project and how developed the design is when you delegate the task. This might include:

  • Floor plans and elevations
  • Architectural drawings and dimensions
  • Existing 3D models, if available
  • Furniture layouts and selections
  • Cabinetry and millwork drawings
  • Material and finish selections
  • Lighting selections and specifications
  • Product images, links, and dimensions
  • Mood boards and design presentations
  • Reference images showing your desired aesthetic
  • Preferred camera angles or views
  • Notes explaining your design direction

Does my design need to be completely finalized before I delegate photorealistic renderings?

Not necessarily. Your Design Assistant can begin developing the 3D model using the project information and design direction you already have established.

For example, if your layout and architectural details are finalized but some furniture or finish selections are still being developed, your Assistant can begin building the model and incorporate those selections as they become available.

However, the more finalized your design is before rendering begins, the fewer revisions may be needed later.

Can my Design Assistant work from an existing 3D model when creating photorealistic renderings?

Yes. If you’ve already developed a model in SketchUp, Revit, or another compatible program, your Design Assistant may be able to work from that existing file rather than rebuilding the project from scratch.

Depending on the file format and rendering software being used, your Assistant can refine the model, add materials and furnishings, adjust lighting, and prepare it for rendering.

What if I don’t already have a 3D model?

That’s okay. Your Design Assistant can develop the model using your floor plans, elevations, dimensions, architectural drawings, and other relevant project information.

You provide the design direction and necessary documentation, and your Assistant handles the modeling work required to prepare the space for rendering.

Can my Design Assistant incorporate my actual furniture and material selections into photorealistic renderings?

Absolutely. Your Design Assistant can use the product specifications, images, dimensions, finish information, and other references you provide to represent your selections within the model.

When exact 3D product models or material files are available, they may be incorporated directly. If an exact model isn’t available, your Assistant can work with you to determine an appropriate way to represent the selection.

This is especially important when the rendering needs to communicate specific furnishings, custom details, or material combinations rather than a general design concept.

Can my Design Assistant create photorealistic renderings of custom cabinetry and millwork?

Yes. Your Design Assistant can model custom cabinetry, built-ins, vanities, kitchen islands, shelving, and other millwork using your drawings, elevations, dimensions, and design specifications.

This allows your renderings to reflect the custom elements you’ve designed rather than relying solely on standard modeling components.

Can my Design Assistant create multiple views of the same space?

Absolutely. Once the 3D model has been developed, your Design Assistant can prepare multiple camera views to showcase different areas, architectural features, furniture arrangements, or design details.

Can my Design Assistant create photorealistic renderings for multiple rooms within the same project?

Yes. Your Design Assistant can develop renderings for individual rooms or multiple spaces throughout a project. When working from a coordinated model, your Assistant can help maintain consistency in materials, finishes, architectural details, and other elements across the different views.

Can I review the photorealistic renderings before the final versions are produced?

Absolutely. You can review preliminary views and provide feedback before your Design Assistant prepares the final high-resolution renderings.

Depending on the project, this might include reviewing the model, confirming materials and furniture placement, approving camera angles, or requesting adjustments to lighting and other visual details.

This gives you the opportunity to confirm that the rendering accurately reflects your design direction before the final images are produced.

Can my Design Assistant make revisions after I’ve reviewed the renderings?

Yes. Your Design Assistant can revise the model and renderings based on your feedback, whether that involves changing a finish, replacing a furniture selection, adjusting lighting, modifying an architectural detail, refining a camera angle, or something else.

Can my Design Assistant follow my studio’s rendering style and presentation preferences?

Yes. If your studio has an established rendering style, preferred camera perspectives, lighting preferences, image dimensions, or other presentation standards, your Design Assistant can work within those guidelines.

During onboarding, we’ll review examples of your previous work and discuss your preferences so your renderings remain consistent with your studio’s approach.
